The Clyde Stubblefield Band
Kicked to the CURB (in a good way!)
Thursday, December 20th, 2007This is a fantastic article about Funky Mondays at the King Club and the Clyde Stubblefield Band. From everyone in the band and the King Club, thank you so much for your support and praise!
We hope to see you on Sunday, December 30th (New Year’s Eve Eve) for our “Funky Sunday” holiday show!!!
Man, it’s been a while…
Thursday, December 20th, 2007Apology to the small band (no pun intended) of fans who occasionally check groovology.com. I’ve been remiss in writing much, though that’s not to say there hasn’t been a lot going on. Hopefully, I’ll find the motivation and time to catch up on reporting some of the good things that have happened this fall and winter. Here’s a quick summary:
- We had Kool DJ Herc, “the Godfather of Hip Hop” and one of the founders of the “break beat”, join us in November at the King Club. He guest DJ’d during our set break and we got to spend time with him all night. Very kool!
- My Chicago saxophone friend Eric Koppa and I got to see Roscoe Mitchell and his friends at a show in Chicago. This was especially nice since Roscoe has been in Oakland, California since September. The highlight was a fantastic dinner with everyone after the show. Good times!
- We’ve just wrapped everything up at the studio for a CD feature Karri Daley with the Clyde Stubblefield Band. It’s nice to have that done.
- Charlie Brooks continues to keep up his fight cancer and join us on Monday nights at the King Club, health and energy permitting.
- Funky Mondays at the King Club have been really good. Attendance has been strong and the music has been terrific. Thank you to everyone who has been coming down to help Keep The Funk Alive
- And how about all the snow?
Best wishes to everyone this holiday season! Be sure to check out the Clyde Stubblefield Band on Sunday, December 30th at the King Club. We’re moving our Funky Monday night one day back to Sunday. It should be one heck of a funky holiday party!!
Cheers,
Bryan Husk
