Photos and MP3s from the Union Terrace

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

The Clyde Stubblefield Band played the UW-Madison Union Terrace on beautiful Lake Mendota on Friday, September 7th, 2007. The weather cleared up and provided UW students and other attendees a great opportunity to hear Madison’s own legend, Clyde “The Funky Drummer” Stubblefield and his band.

Here are some MP3 sound clips from the show:

  • Jabo’s Groove (~11MB)
  • Pass The Peas (~11MB)
    • And here are some photos from the evening…

Another reason to go to the Union Terrace this Friday

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Here’s a compelling reason. Because it’s Clyde Stubblefield behind the drums!

Who is Clyde Stubblefield, you ask? He was the drummer for James Brown and recorded some of the most famous funk songs and played the most sampled funk grooves ever. Here is a video featuring Clyde from an L.A. recording session for the soundtrack to “Superbad“. I haven’t seen the movie yet (I hear it’s funny), but I definitely want the soundtrack! These are the REAL LEGENDS OF FUNK seen right here…

You can read an interview with composer/arranger, Lyle Workman, about the making of the soundtrack.

And you can see Clyde Stubblefield play for FREE this Friday, September 7th from 9:00 p.m. to midnight at the UW-Madison Memorial Union Terrace. What more could you ask for, except maybe for some decent weather? We’ll be playing, rain or shine, so bring your funkiest dance moves and we’ll provide the music!!!
