The FunkMasters latest tour schedule
Clyde “The Funky Drummer” Stubblefield and John ‘Jabo’ Starks
from Drummer World

Fred Wesley, trombone
and that’s PeeWee Ellis on tenor, also a JB Horn
Bernie Worrell (keyboard solo, 2006)
The FunkMasters is the top-shelf, A-game funk outfit that Clyde Stubblefield and John ‘Jabo’ Starks lead up that is essentially a variation of “The JB’s“. Maceo Parker (alto sax) and PeeWee Ellis (tenor sax) aren’t with them, but the always powerful Fred Wesley (trombone) is a FunkMasters member. Needless to say, the entire band is loaded with talent!
For the past two years around this time, Clyde has quietly slipped out of Madison to get some international star time in Japan with the FunkMasters. This year is no exception. Clyde and company are currently doing seven shows in seven nights in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. I strongly recommend you making one of these performances if you happen to be in the area at the moment!
In addition to this year’s Japan tour, the FunkMasters are headliners at the Triptych Festival in Scotland, where they will play three shows, in three night, in three cities. Joining them for these shows in the legendary Bernie Worrell, the forever funky keyboardist for George Clinton and Parliment/Funkadelic/P-Funk All-Stars.
If only I could be there in Scotland to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event…..hmmmmmm. Stay tuned!
