Donating to the Clyde Stubblefield Medical Fund
Tuesday, November 7th, 2006People have been asking how they can make a donation to Clyde’s medical bill fundraiser and I have found the answer.
If you would like to make a contribution, you can go to any Associated Bank and ask to donate to the Clyde Stubblefield Medical Fund.
I spoke with Clyde on Monday and he is overwhelmed by the care and support that so many have offered him. He’s a little shy about the whole thing, but he is humbled and very thankful.
Please consider a donation. It’s good karma, and your help will directly aid a great musician and friend experiencing the burden of mounting medical bills without any health care coverage.
Okayplayer and the Roots Rock
Friday, November 3rd, 2006This is a great little article/blog post. The quibbling points in the intro aside, the info about the Roots breakdown of rapping and the rhythmic dissection of the beats are a great case study for hip-hop academics. Enjoy!

Clyde Stubblefield Benefit Sunday, Nov 5
Thursday, November 2nd, 2006Join Clyde and his friends and fans to help raise some bread for recent hospital bills he’s incurred. While I don’t have details surrounding his health, every visit he makes to the hospital is a costly one. Once you’ve been (successfully) treated for cancer and without health insurance, it’s nearly impossible to find an insurance provider that will offer coverage.

Many bands…
I’d like to think this isn’t a life threatening situation (which is what we worry about the most), but Clyde certainly could use the financial assistance to help ensure the Funky Drummer keeps on slapping the skins for years to come.
Halloween 2006
Wednesday, November 1st, 2006The horn section dressed up again this Halloween at the King Club for our regular “Funky Monday” gig. There are more photos, but at the moment, this is the only one I have.

Seen here is Clyde Stubblefield and his horn section (Zombie Rasta - sax, Charlie Brown - trombone, and “Petra” the Drag Queen - trumpet)
