MadWiscMusic update

Sunday, May 21st, 2006

People are continuing to sign up to join the MadWiscMusic group and already a community is being developed. We have members from the Gomers, the Blue Olives, Vibe Syndicate, Clovis Mann, Buck Cornell and the Nematones, Strange Talking Animals, Primitive Culture, Clyde Stubblefield’s Band and a handful of other groups and artists.

One discussion thread involved sharing each band’s web sites, blogs and/or MySpace locations. As promised, I will organize a permanent page with everyone’s web links in just a little bit at this site.

Thank you all for your contributions! And keep on groovin’! And as always, please encourage friends to joing MadWiscMusic.

Cheers,
Bryan

Thanks to Banks

I realize this is post-gig info, but I just wanted to give a shout out to Joey B. Banks for filling in for Clyde the last few weeks. Clyde’s been away in Europe doing some gigs and Joe did a great job standing in for the Funky Drummer while he’s been gone.

We had a great crowd last night at the King Club. It looks like school is out and summer has begun. There was lots of dancing going on! Clyde will be back next week, so come join us for a Funky Good Time (every) Monday night at the King Club!

Primitive Culture Rocked!

Primitive Culture at Stella's Speakeasy, Friday, May 12, 2006

I just finished a weekend of gigs with Primitive Culture. On Friday we played at a great venue in Stoughton, called Stella’s Speakeasy. It is a fabulously warm place in a fantastic new building with lots of space. The house favorite is their little dog, Stella, who looks just like Eddie from the sitcom Fraser. Despite being a bit of a drive outta Madison, many Primitive Culture friends found the place and had a great time (Hello Steve and Jane! and also Matt from the MAMA’s production staff).

Other pictures (thanks Steve!): photo 1 | photo 2

The next night we played at the Hodi in Middleton. Boy, did we have a great time there! The music was super hot and the crowd was great. I met a bunch of new people, including a cool UW prof and his wife (Hi Terry and Amy!) and their bass playing son, Tom (great to meet you!). Thank you, again, Dave, Bruce, Jerry and Michael for inviting me to fill in for Bob. It was a wonderful time!

Strange Talking Animals Upcoming Shows

Sunday, May 7th, 2006

Hey Folks,

My friend Jason is the drummer with a variety of bands in town. His band Strange Talking Animals is making the radio today and there’s a show this Friday at the UW Union. Check out his email…

http://www.strangetalkinganimals.com

Hello,

Strange Talking Animals are on the radio today - WSUM
91.7 FM at 2:00pm. We’re doing a live in studio -
playing a few songs, doing an interview, and plugging
our show at the UW - Memorial Union
Terrace/Rathskeller on May 12 - 5:00-7:00pm.

There - I just plugged the show on email too. Please
come out and see us at the Union. I promise the sun
will be shinning. We have some special guests joining
us on stage including James Bourne - legendary
shredder from the seminal post punk indie drone/art
rock band Show Donkey. In addition to being a fine
guitar player, he’s a very tall person. It will be
worth checking out the show just to see how tall he
is.

Tune in today - and I hope to see you all at the Union
on the 12th.

Thanks,
Jason
