DJing at the Great Dane Fitchburg, March 27, 2010

I’ll be spinning at the Great Dane Fitchburg once again, this time on Saturday, May 1st from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. I hope you’ll join me for the fun!

Why come out to the Fitchburg Dane?

  • There’s no cover. The music is FREE!
  • Good beer, drinks and food
  • Pool tables, pool tables, pool tables
  • Huge shuffleboard game
  • You can even play their Wii!

My DJ set consists of solid selections of reggae, hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B. I also have a saxophone or two set up to play along with some instrumental jams I’ve got in the mix. It’s DJing with a twist, something a little different.

Thank you for the warm reception at last month’s Great Dane set! I’m looking forward to doing it again!

When Youtube home music clips meet clever video editing…

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

This was such a fun Youtube video to watch. I check out a lot of solo “how to” music lesson demo clips on Youtube, so I’m familiar with the thousands of (sometimes really good) videos demonstration/lesson videos out there. Here is a great video montage of some of these clips featuring various instruments all mashed together to create a funk opera! Enjoy!

For the record, I have to credit Bradley “Bacon”, aka “The John Stockton of Kalamazoo”, for posting this on his Facebook page. Woot!

MS Fundraiser Raises $2,300!

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

My good friends Steve and Jane Schmieding sponsored a fundraiser this past Saturday for the local chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. They are a couple of the kindest people I’ve ever met and just a wonderful couple. They’re big fans of local music and we’ll often see each other at Primitive Culture or Clyde Stubblefield gigs. Many weeks ago Steve asked me to play with Primitive Culture for the MS fundraiser event, which I was happy to do.

The turnout was terrific. There was a raffle for some wonderful donated prizes. The bands volunteered their services, and local television personality Carleen Wild was even there to MC. I got to meet and play with Steve and Jane’s son, Adam. All the money raised went to National MS Society to help fight multiple sclerosis. Generosity is still alive in peoples’ hearts, even in this bad economy. In the course of a few hours, we raised $2,300.

Thank you to everyone who donated their time, their money and their passion to help make this a successful event. Sign me up for next year…

Words to live by…

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Our country has begun a new path. Let us walk it together in unity, faith and support.

Check out the new White House web site, too. As a web guy, I have to say I really like the site’s coding and design.

Bad economy + Good credit = 4.875%

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Man, I am one happy home owner! Living within one’s means and having good credit has paid off. I just signed the papers for my mortgage refinance, saving me $200 a month from now until 2039. Thank you, mom and dad, for drilling into my head the importance of having good credit! While I hope our nation’s economy will bounce back soon, the low interest rates for qualified homeowners are a welcome relief!
